Do you dream of being a part of something amazing?

  • Are you passionate about protecting our oceans, lakes, and rivers?
  • Is public education important to you?
  • How about building legacy community positive projects that contribute for decades to come?

Creating a legacy for the community, for the Province, and for the region is a monumental effort by passionate volunteer leaders and contributors. Ever wondered how large projects like this get built? They start here, in the creation & development phase. This is where the smorgasbord of vision, mission, purpose, ideas, dreams, and concepts swirl together and start to create the tangible form.

To this point the project has run on volunteer time and (a lot) of coffee, but now third party skills and services are required to develop the project to the next phase of actual construction.

The Aquarium needs designs, plans and proof-of-concept analysis studies. It needs a place to work from and some staff dedicated to its purpose of creation. It needs more volunteers and it needs community and membership support.

If you can help with a donation, you become part of that legacy creation. If you want to become even more involved, you can become a FirstWave Member, and/or volunteer your time and skills.

The Alberta Aquarium is a community positive legacy project:

  • positive economic impact
  • positive environmental impact
  • positive educational impact

Is that something you can support?

With your donation, you can choose to direct your contribution to specific funds or to a General Fund. What does that mean? It means your money will be allocated to costs specific to the fund purpose. Here are the current funds we are working on:

Development Fund: Monies donated to this fund will go to the development work of the project, including feasibility & market studies, building design, consultations for the physical build and other costs in this vein. These are the pre-work activities that have to happen before a shovel ever hits the ground. They define the outlines and visuals of what the project will look like in the end.

Education Fund: Since development will take a bit of time, we have embarked on the implementation of educational programming. From general public to working within the school systems, we are working with professional educators and leaders to develop materials and tools for educators to access, outbound programs and hands-on activities for students.

General Fund: Never as handsome as the use of funds listed above, but a critical necessity in order to make this project a reality. General funds are directed toward general operations and wages, office space and other necessities as they cycle in. If contributions to this fund exceed the need, the excess will be directed to one of the other funds that is in most need.

When you make a donation, you will be able to select which fund you most want to support. Keep in mind that all areas are needed equally to make this project a success.
