Who We Are

Who We Are

The Aquarium Society of Alberta is a group of dedicated volunteers working to bring a public aquarium, education and research centre to the Capital Region of Alberta.

The project will create an experience for visitors that will immerse them into the waters of the world, explore the importance of these habitats and meet some of the incredible animals found in these exotic regions. Through exposure to a mix of live exhibits, fixed exhibits, and interactive learning opportunities, visitors will discover some of the most fascinating areas on earth.

Under one roof, visitors will get to explore a variety of freshwater and marine environments, meet animals we rarely get to see except on documentaries, and learn how we are getting both worse and better at taking care of these bio-rich regions of the planet.

The Aquarium project will not only be an incredible indoor attraction for local residents, regional neighbours and visitors alike, but it will be a valuable resource to the community. The Aquarium, once open, will create a number of permanent jobs in the area, bring in a new focus for aquatic and environmental research in the region, and create new learning and programming opportunities for all ages.

Founded in 2014, the Aquarium Society of Alberta is a registered non-profit organisation. Want to get involved? Here’s how –>
